February 1, 2010

It has been a while since we posted anything. Well to get everyone up to date. Two days before Thanksgiving our furnace died. Really died. Not fixable. After almost two week, we got a new one and we are doing well in the cold weather. It seems very efficient.

Jim is still working both at Eide Saw and Gassen (Jonathan Association). I am doing very little at Bethel University but still have my full time job in Shakopee.

Winter seems boring. Our big excitement was making a pecan pie yesterday. It was really good.

Everyone take care and have a good winter.

The Lower Level

Now we have new walls, new paint, new varnish through out the lower level. The bathroom has a new vinyl floor. Wednesday we are supposed to get carpeting and Friday they are going to clean. Then furniture can move back in. It seems like a long time since we have had that space. We are expecting guests this weekend. I hope we have a bed for them.

The Sandvik Light Battenberg Wait REUNION

Sharon Sandvik and I decided to start a reunion scheduled for July 31-Aug 2. We were hoping for all our kids to attend but you know how busy eveyrone is. In attendance were Sharon, Jim, Martha, Esther, Matt S, Sailor (Sharon's adorable granddaughter), Gigi, Matt, Gavin, Garek Dobosenski, Jon Wait, and I. Anyway Maria Sandvik could not come last weekend becasue of a wedding she is going to this weekend. Simon Sandvik is coming for the Stae Fair. Jim's daughters, Jennifer and Julie, came to visit last April. So although we had a great time, we are considering having our second annual reunion at a different time to try to get all the kids.

August Already!

Well, it has been a month since the flooded lower level. This week they have started taking out the sheet rock (about 6-8 inches up the wall). They are spraying a treatment on the wood to keep from getting mold etc. Have no idea when it will be finished. But I have had a good time picking out carpeting, paint, new bathroom vanity, vanity top, tile, etc.

Lots going on

Jun 21 to Jul 2
We were on vacation in Florida. The first few days with Jennifer, Steve, and James in Orlando and the last week in Pompano. I will not bore you with details. The highlights - taking our grandson James to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood USA, and SeaWorld - Jim catching two enormous King fish - and going to a Polynesiam Dinner Show. It also rained a lot.

Jul 2
We came home to our lower level being flooded. Seems our hot water heater broke and the sump pump did not go on.

Jul 2 - present
Getting the basement dry, cleaned, and restored. It still smells bad. It still is wet. And we still have furniture in there. The project manager is supposed to do a walk through on Monday Jul 20th.

Jul 4th
Great party at Matt and Gigi's. We got away from our house, but the food, friends, converstation, and playtime with kids was priceless.

Jul 17th
Relay for Life in Mankato. Ok, so I gave my hair to Locks for Love. Never have had a haircut in a tent with the wind blowing. Still unsure about it. Loved the times with family at the Relay. Jim and I did not stay all night. Yes, we are wimps.

Jul 18th
Now I am getting ready for a meeting in 40 minutes and working on a presentation I have to make for an interview next week. Busy, Busy.

WELCOME

So we started a blog. Gina Light and Jim Battenberg thank you for visiting it.

Today Jim is working and I am visiting Grandma. Tonight we are having dinner with Grandpa and Grandma.

Being out of school does not mean out of work. I have been to the school three times this week to catch up on items unfinished. I helped at the high school on Monday, had a meeting at Bethel on Tuesday, met with a teacher yesterday, have a conference meeting tomorrow, and a Bethel meeting on Saturday. Whoever said that teachers get off for the summer, did not know a teacher.
